Chamberlayne Bifolds
This particular project, although smaller in scale, presented significant challenges that required careful planning and execution. The task at hand was to create a new opening for bifold doors, aiming to seamlessly blend the indoor and outdoor spaces. The installation of a steel "goal post" frame was crucial to support the weight of the wall above, but the challenge lay in positioning it as high as possible to allow for maximum glass area in the bifold doors.
Excavating the foundations for the frame added another layer of complexity, especially since it had to be done without disturbing the existing temporary supports or the integrity of the party wall. This required precision and expertise to ensure structural stability while working within tight constraints.
Furthermore, the project involved the meticulous task of reinstalling a herringbone floor that was significantly off-level by 27mm. Achieving a perfectly level floor was essential, but it needed to be done with minimal disruption to the functioning kitchen that remained operational throughout the renovation. This aspect of the project demanded attention to detail and innovative solutions to overcome the challenges posed by the existing floor condition.
Overall, this seemingly small project showcased the intricacies and complexities that can arise in construction and renovation work, highlighting the importance of expertise and strategic planning to achieve successful outcomes.
